It had been years since I last used a foundation. After years and years of trial and error I had had enough. They were either too dark, too light, too cakey, too yellow, too pink etc. Whatever. Maybe I was not choosing or using them correctly, I do not know. So for some years I was not wearing any. I was using a concealer (after all, I do have blemishes too, you know?), a powder and that was it.
Then, this beautiful invention called BB creams, came into my life! Halleluja! (I used the MAC one - before they changed the formula, now I do not like it - and the L'oreal one). A moisturising, tinted, magic cream, with a light coverage? Yes please! But at some point, the BB cream was not enough, I needed a bit more. And, I felt ready to return to foundation again. One that kept coming up in my online and offline research was Chanel's Vitalumière Aqua. So I gave it a go, and 1 month ago, when Sephora had their Sales, I bought it in Greece for 40€ (30ml). Let me just say, this is the most perfect foundation I have ever used! I absolutely love it! I use the colour 10 beige (or B10, they changed the number codes now) and I apply it with a Real Techniques Stippling Brush (review on these brushes coming up shortly).
There is just a tiny bit of product needed to cover the whole face (which is always great). The coverage is light to medium, but buildable. It gives your skin this healthy look, this "hey, I just woke up and look gorgeous" feeling, you know? It has a dewy but not shiny finish, so I use a bit of loose powder on top, just because I have mixed skin and know my T-Zone needs it. One thing that is not so convenient about this product is that you have to give it a good shake before you use it, since it contains a lot of water which obviously has to be mixed up with all the other ingredients and especially the spf, which is a 15. I would recommend this foundation for every age and skin type, maybe not the too oily ones. I am so in love with it! Have you used any of the Chanel foundations so far? What is your tip?
