Nasty little bird

May 14, 2013

Gooood morning everyone!

So please, follow me so that I can follow you back! I have no idea where to start.....

 Thank you guys!

P.S. And while we are at it, socializing and all, here is also my Facebook profile, private one and bloggy  one, feel free to like and follow :)

Ch-ch-ch changes!

May 10, 2013

Oh my goodness...I just can't believe that I am writing a post again...I am so sorry for not posting anything all this time!!! I also wanna thank you all for sticking and bearing with me and not loosing hope on me :) Yes I am alive, and yes I am fine :) How have you been, what's new?

Blogging, and writing for that matter are 2 of my favorite things in life. They actually are also(partially)  the reason why I got this new job of mine. Yes, you read that right, new job. There have been quiet a few changes in my life lately, and they are the reason of my not keeping up with my beloved blog.

No worries, I am still in the fahsion business (would it ever survive without me???). I am working for a German company which produces sustainable fashion accessories, and my job is to support Sales and Marketing, in order to expand to new markets in other countries. It is quiet differenent than the job I had at the fashion agency, but that's exactly why I love about it! This, and also the fact that it is a part-time job.

I hear you ask, why change from a full time to a part time one? Well, most of all because I needed a change anyway, and second, because I needed more free time on my hands in order to work as a freelance social media consultant. I have been preparing for this more than a year now. I read books, subscribed to relevant sites and newletters, visited seminars, the whole shabang. I discovered that communication, marketing and technical stuff like programming (basic), computers etc. have become my streghts over the years....and I love social media...so, why not combine them all together and do something I really enjoy and love? So far, it is going great, and I am looking forward to the day where I'll be doing my social media stuff for a living and nothing else. It is a long way to go, but I am willing and able.

So, besides my part time job and the social media consulting for customers, I also have to do my very own social media strategy in order to move forward. And there is also running I do not want to neglect. And my better half. And redundant stuff like taking showers, cooking, eating, relaxing. So I sacrificed blogging. But, I will return to it. This is a first step, coming out to you and explaining. I have to organize and schedule my working hours better. I am all over it, believe, because I won't give up this little world I created over here. It has followed me since my first months here in Germany and it brought me to YOU guys. You're way too precious for me.

I had a couple of snapshots from the last weeks that I wanted to upload, but somehow Blogger is against me today and won't do it.....I will try and do it later...untill then....bear just with a plain text and a video (I know this is against the how-to-be-a-succcesfull-blogger rules, but hey).

Lots of kisses,
xoxo

Bye-bye chap-chap - Best products for soft and moisturized lips

Apr 17, 2013

If there is one beauty issue bothering every single woman in the whole wide world then it is dry lips. No matter how young or how old you are, somehow, there is always the lip issue: they get dry, chapped, cracked, no matter how protected or moisturised we keep them.

Now I am not an expert, neither a make-up artist nor a dermatologist. But I had my share of dried lips. And God knows I have full lips, which require a little bit more of care than the average ones (oops I am having my Angelina Jolie moment here). I also had my share of owning 250 lips balms and not finding any of them when in need (...the mystery of the vanishing lip balms...sound familiar?)....so these are just my own experiences and thoughts on the issue. The products I mention are my current tops picks, the ones that I keep rebuying. Maybe they will not work the same for you as they did for me, but at least you can give the one or the other a try, worst case scenario.... it will be Nr. 251 in your collection, nothing wrong with that. :)

Some quick tips on preventing chapped lips:

1. Moisturize your body - drink water!

2. Choose lip balms which contain moisturizers such as Vitamine E, Aloe Vera, Shea Butter, Macademia Butter etc.

3. Make sure you have a balanced diet with sufficient Vitamin B and iron intake. Usual symptoms for Vitamin B deficiency are cracked lip corners.

4. Protect your lips when staying in the sun with a special sun block.

5. Use creamy lipsticks and avoid lips stains.

6. I am not a huge fan of lip exfoliation, to be honest. I think once you start with it you have to do it quiet regularly, there is no way back. But, if your lips are messed up, flaky, and have started to peel, there is no way around it. Exfoliate them by using a mixture of sugar with honey or a soft-bristled toothbrush (use a new one in order to avoid bacterial shifting from teeth). Make sure you apply loads of moisturizer afterwards.

This is my latest discoveyr and has already Holly Grail status! Clarins is actually my favourite high-end beauty brand. Everything I have ever tried from them was absolutely perfect. They have the best body and self-tanning products. This lip product looks like a gloss but thank goodness does not feel like one. It's not sticky, it's very smooth, hydrating and gives a very sexy but subtle shimmer to the lips. It smells like macaroons and is perfect to carry with you in your handbag. There are 5 more gorgeous shades to choose from. I will definitely get me some more.

 Elisabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream

An all-rounder! HG status once more. If there is any, and I really mean any dry or cracked spot on my face or body this does wonders. It soothes, hydrates and calms the skin down. I often use it on wounds too. It's a skin saver! It has a vaseline like consistency, it's packed with plant extracts (ok, it smells a bit funny), and a little goes a long way. If you want to apply it onto your face use a tiny amount of it and work it into the skin. I am using it around my nose and on my cheeks during the winter months for protection against the cold when I am doing outdoor sports and in the summer if I sat too much in the sun. I use it all year round on my lips and on the skin around my nails. If you have used everything for your dry lips and nothing has helped, this is your product.

 Korres Lip Butter

I have the colours Mango (peachy-pink) and wild rose (dark red), but I have also tried the Jasmin one, which has a beautiful lighy-pink colour. Another must have for me. It has a buttery consistency, which immediately melts on your lips and leaves them supple and moisturized. The colour is an added plus, it is sheer and looks quiet natural. Since the lip butter is in a small pot, I use it at home, because it's not that  practical or hygienic to apply when I am on the road

Janssen Lip Balm

This Lip Balm was in a Glossy Box (some kind of Birch Box over here in Germany) I received almost a year ago. I never really tried it until last November. Well, as you can see it is almost empty. I really loved it! It is clear lip balm which softens the lips within a couple of minutes. You only need the tiniest amount of it. I use it in the morning, before I start my make up routine. It is the first thing I put on my lips before I start applying foundation or any other make up product for that matter. Then, when I get to the point to apply lipstick (round about 20 min later - yes I spend that much time for my make up in the morning....grrrr) my lips are supple and perfectly moisturized. If there is any product left on the lips I remove it with a tissue and then I go ahead with the lipstick. I do not know if you can find it easily, but it is worth it, trust me.

I hope this post helped you a bit and gave you some ideas.
I would love to hear your faves too?

Maybelline Color Tattoo24h - Review (On-and-on bronze)

Mar 22, 2013

I never used a creamy eye-shadow in my life. So, I was very curious to try out the Maybelline Color Tattoos (and especially the colour On-and-on bronze*), because I heard so many people rave about it. And yes, it is all true. This little baby is a miracle in a pot. You smack it on your eyelids with your fingers, buff it it in with a blending brush (I use my beloved MAC 217) and there you have it: your eye-make up looks like you tried really, really hard, like you used 2-3 different shades to create this effect! It is pure magic, this creamy eye-shadow gives light where you need it and a bit of a darker shade in the crease. And not only that: it is high-pigmented, lasts for hours, and does not crease! I even apply it with a short-bristled brush and take it under the eye and it stays there all day.

I am using it at least 2-3 times a week, and combine it sometimes with a brown coloured waterline to give the effect of a light smokey eye, a totally wearable look, even for the day. I am highly recommending it and I am curious to try out the other colour tattoos shades as well. I recently bought the Taupe one and I am eyeing the Golden one too. Have you tried any of these?

[the picture does not do the product any justice, sorry about this, the vibrancy of the colour could not be captured by my crappy camera]

*This shade is called "bad-to-the-bronze" in the U.S.

Winter to Spring - Transitional outfit ideas

Mar 20, 2013

I do not know where you live but it is still winter here people. Like a 0 degrees with snow type of winter. All my hopes rely now on March the 21st, when Spring is supposed to start - officially. So Spring, if you are reading this, please, let's just get your a** over here now, will you?

Transitioning from Winter to Spring, does me want to throw off of me and into the closet any down and wool jacket or coat I own. I am so looking forward to layering, to wearing less and lighter clothes! Layers make sure you are warm in the still crispy Spring mornings but give you also the chance to remove them and stay cooler when the temps go up during the day.

A key piece - and a very trendy one - when it comes to layering are chunky cardigans. A chunky, knitted, slightly over-sized black cardigans is a must-have. Another option are the ethnic-aztec-patterned ones, which were a trend last Fall/Winter but are here to stay. Combine them with your favourite denim pants and a pair of sneakers, ankle boots or Oxfords and you are good to go. I can see that this will be my go-to outfit this Spring. What's yours?
